Comblaf is a somewhat obtuse reference to Wiglaf, the man who follows Beowulf to face the dragon. I figure I should introduce him earlier in the story since I'm not certain this will make it that far. Though if it does that dragon will likely be a fox.
Beochicken Verse III
STRIDING THROUGH THE DARK OF NIGHT
EYES GLOWING YELLOW IN THE DEPTHS
BEOCHICKEN MOVED WITH NO CARE FOR HIS INJURIES
OFFERS OF REPRIEVE WERE REFUTED
BATTERED AND BROKEN THE HERO WOULD END IT
THE THREAT TO FOWL WOULD BE TORN ASUNDER
WHILE HIS MUSCLES ACHED HE DRUG ALONG A BLADE
THE KNIFE HAD BROUGHT DOWN MANY ON THE BUTCHER'S BLOCK
WITH IT HE WOULD BE EPT IN SPITE OF PAIN
HIS MEN HAD FLED LEAVING HIM ALONE
THOSE CHICKENS WERE NOT WORTH THEIR FEATHERS
SAVE ONE WHO STOOD BUT WAS SENT ASIDE
BUT FOR WEE CHICK COMBLAF THE SQUIRE
SON OF THE CHILD OF THE FATHER OF THE FATHER OF BEOCHICKEN
THE LONE FOWL STRODE FORTH TO THE NEST
THE THREAT GLISTENED AS IT CREPT OUT
SWUNG ROUND WITH GREAT HEFT
THE BLADE CAME ROUND WITH FORCE
THE CRASHING NOISE RANG OUT AND THUS SPOKE THE THREAT
FEATHERS AND TAR AND STEAL I BREAK
THE BROKE BLADE FELL TO THE GROUND FROM THE GRIP OF BEAK
EVEN WITH A WING TORN OFF THE THREAT STOOD GREAT
BE THEY DEVIL OR FOWL OR BEAST OR OTHER FOE
NONE WOULD STAND BEFORE THE HERO FOR LONG
CALLING UNTO THE HEAVENS BEOCHICKEN SPOKE THUS
KOO KA KOO KA KOO
THE SOUND RANG OUT AS BEOCHICKEN BOUNDED UP
HIS DAMAGED BEAK PULLED AT THE NECK OF THE THREAT
THE WRATH OF THE THREAT WAS ENDED
BEOCHICKEN LAY ON THE GROUND EXHAUSTED
THE BLOODLY DEAD DONE THE HERO COULD NOW REST
SAVE THE SOUNDS EMERGING FROM THE NEST
