Once more this not serious blog is participating in Blog Action Day, because I enjoy the occasional pouring on of social commentary.
Even if they can't count these guys make a strong case about drinking water being good. So, I think we can all agree that drinking water is important. Really though the site leading this is kinda wrong a lot.
If one billion people out of out 6.8 Billion people on earth don't have clean water... that isn't one in eight. I don't know if that first number's accurate but it certainly isn't the same as their ratio.(That would be about one in seven)
According to them the United States was opposed to clean Water and sanitation being a human right, but according to the link they provided the motion passed 122 to 0. Maybe we were opposed but we weren't that opposed.
But that site being a mess isn't really the point. And do these people realize what would need to be done to actually provide clean water to everyone in the world? They just assume that because I have something to say in their program that I'm on their side. I am to an extent but that sort of thing is expensive and given the current economic situation of the world that sort of project isn't going to be easy to pull off.
When we're all prospering we can help the poor and downtrodden, but when we're slipping and might become the poor and downtrodden we need to buckle down.
And of course here is a polluted version of the Experimental Water Chicken. He was one of my first, so even though he's not looking so great I can always pull him back for a bit of screen time. The chicken hasn't changed much(though he is dirty and crying now) but his surroundings were horribly polluted.
Poor polluted chicken :-(
ReplyDeleteI thought he was crying in the first? (Or wearing makeup) anyway, nice chickens, as always. And I agree about the providing clean water to everyone....
