What a Square?
By

Is this a square? The shapes and variable brightness is somewhat disorienting to look at. Maybe I should actually use an optical illusion. I can draw a few without looking anything up. after all, they used to be on the back of cereal boxes.

HD Backgound September 2016: Let's All Chicken Maker .Net

Everyone! Let's all Chicken Maker!
In this month's piece I have opted to utilize the generally underused Layer Style of chicken. A style that was meant to imitate a comic that had a style entirely unlike this one. Regardless there are a few of complex patterns that are completely unnoticeable since there is so little of that layer left in the image, mostly the spiraling star pattern that formed the green on the Let's All Chicken Maker text. I originally had that extent to the eye, but it ended up being solid so I did a different one there.
You can download this, and many other wallpapers, from this post on my Patreon.

A fine tuned blend of style with as little substance as possible... That's not quite right. I could have way less substance than this. Don't you make me show off my lack of substance.

A Different Look Today

Okay, my attempt to make something distinct had definitely come to a success with this piece. I am almost sure I don't have anything that looks like this in my gallery.
Well, almost. I mean there's quite a bit of this site. This piece has elements of Sketchy, which I posted just last month, and my so called "Layers" Style. I suppose in a lot of ways there's nothing brand new in it.

Promised Lines
By

As promised in the last post this piece has an assortment of arbitrary and random lines in it. This "Layers" style is something I used to use fairly often. It's a bit time consuming to make all of the extra bits but it looks interesting so it's alright. Thinking up a variety of patterns for the background colors is the hardest part. This time even the outline is full of purple!

So, I applied a number of things to this image. I used layers to make the green text look more interesting. Plus I made chickens in four different styles though really the fourth and first are more or less both just my standard method, with #4 being a bit more hot blooded. I decided against going over the top this time though, you know? Four is enough. Oh, is it at all clear that the planet looping round the sun means year? I had a really hard time thinking up a picture meaning year. Better than using the word though.
I admit... I delayed some stuff so this would line up right.(Next HERO will be out very soon by the way) And for some reason my followers, which had been at 197 for quite a while, spiked up past 200(Ms. Hanaburg) early in the week. I wanted to say something but I decided to hold off so I could make one post for all of it. It's much more exciting this way after all. Oh... I'm kind of excitable and it's already today so... I'll just post it now.
So once more. This is a celebration. I managed to make 500 posts over the course of two years and raked in more than 200 followers. Where will this site bring me next year? Keep following me and you'll find out!
Oh yes. Happy St. Patrick's Day. That is the site anniversary after all. Makes it easy to remember. I figure I ought to green up one of my favorite chickens from the past year to celebrate since that was what I did last year.

This chicken was made in a way I called the Layered Style during my Same Chicken project. But with uh... less layers. Also I'm pretty sure he's hypnotized. I mean look at that circle emanating from his eye... Or maybe he's trying to hypnotize us...

Same Chicken Post #4 (Layered Style, Blue Period)
By

This is my Layered Style. I just keep on piling patterns behind patterns until it looks complicated. You see, nice simple basic style. Really the first step is to construct the basic chicken, using the basic method. After that I just have to start drawing patterns and pasting the image back over it. Really I apply that method to a lot of things, but this style was where I used it in the first place. It was a key step in the development of my style and so I keep the Layered Style in mind as something I need to remember. Also it's fun working with it.
Yeah, my Blue Period. That brings back memories of when I randomly declared it my blue period and did everything in blue for a few days. I even blued up the purple background of this one. As far as my style goes this could be more appropriately called my monochrome style but all my practice in that sort of look has been in blue(or gray in a few cases) so you know. Anyways the wide variety of shades combine together to give a look that is relatively reserved.
On a side note I figured out why I can pump these out like this. It's because I don't have to try to think of what to make. I mean I don't need to decide it's gonna be a cowboy cop on the wrong side of the law or something... I'll make that later.

Sorry for the delay. I meant to post something on tusday but blogger was still being mean to me. Anyways today I have... something I guess it's a chicken. Kinda scrawly. I think I'm trying to hypnotise you but I can't say for sure. He's clearly got the red and orange thing going for him at any rate.
Ummm.. You want to comment... BLAH! Wait, no. That's vampires. Those hypnotise people, right?

Well, I finished this as 1:01 by my clock so I managed 4
It's been a while since I did one of these sorts of crazy ones but I think it came out pretty well, all things considered(like the fact I did it in 10 minutes)
I didn't really think that much about this one so I haven't got much to say. It seems feminine to me, though I'm not sure why.

I haven't done anything irregular in a while. I've been trying to think of clever themed chickens lately and haven't just tried my hand at a differenter art. I mean I've fallen into habit using the same brush(I mean there's only 12 in Paint but...) and the same dozen colors.
I started off ripping off something I saw, but then I realized some of the nice the subtle elements it had and I realized that there was no way I could pull that off in paint. Once I started though I just kept piling patterns into the background. It came out with a unique look... As to why I used green I originally intended it to just be neon green and neon orange, but I just added a bunch of colors as I started work on the various patterns burried in there. All the patterns were made using the full circle tool too. Just tried to do it all different. Maybe I should try things like this more often.
