Endless facets of life can show through and give you a chance to let you ideals and beliefs shine through.
I considered a rainbow, but I thought maintaining a single hue would be better.

Here we go. This is a nice relaxing piece based on silhouettes.By reversing the colors in semi-regular sections we break up the image while otherwise maintaining consistent and smooth lines.

The shadow of a dream remains as man awakes. The nightmare in the shadow stains this world.
Sorry for the break. There will be more than just this tonight.

Site Remodel Nu 2
By
Chicken Maker

Hello, I've decided to do some design stuff on the site and mobile site because I know how to computer and I'm a little bored of this one. Um I didn't actually do anything last time I said this so you may not believe me, but it is the case. I will be keeping the general color scheme in tact, but new things on the banner. Everything on the side bar getting redone or removed. Probably also revisit the various pages and decide if I still even want those. At the very least the top left of the site name up there has been bothering me. I can't believe I didn't notice that swoosh was so shaky until I started doing the wallpapers.
So, this is the teaser/warning. Expect things to randomly come and go from the sidebar in the next week or so as I mess with it until I post another announcement.
Also I like silhouettes. They look like they aren't any work but I think I spend more time on them than I do other things. Since it's like that I don't do them often. I mean they're extra work and look lazy. Clearly a terrible choice.

Days Pass By
By

As days pass thoughts occur to me like... Don't I run a quasi-popular internet site? I should post on that instead of whatever else I'm doing. I'd like to claim ceaseless toil but I think that would be a blatant lie... Anyways I know it's a bit abstracted but that's a calendar. The red are my posting days. I started off strong and I plan to finish strong but that middle was a bit of a mess. 4 days left in the month so we'll see how posting goes.

City Lights

Light. Shadow. The Cityscape.
In this piece I chose to create a contrast of blacks and grays to emphasize the form of the chicken. I used the dark gray on the bottom to cover for the lack of strong lines in the design. The top of the image is blue. That isn't a sort of gray at all. Also in spite of the title there isn't a single visible light in this picture.

Excuse Me While I America
By

I have been brought to understand that other countries get annoyed when the USA refers to itself as America, but that seems unreasonable to me. I mean surely we need a 1 word manner of referring to ourselves. States has a meaning already. It's not like any other thing is called as America anyways. There's North America, South America and The Americas.

Flower
By

This flower started out as a flame, but i changed some lines and made a flower instead. In general I think I might use fire imagery far too much, for anything from passion to anger to reinforcing something like power. That's all well and good but I think an elegant flower is a nice fresh thing for this site.

Horizon on the Bottom

Someone once said the horizon should always be at the bottom or the top and never in the middle. I can't remember who that was, but it was one of those big shot directors.

Dark Tower
By

A chicken looks up upon the dark spire. Horrible legend surrounds it, but there is no choice. The chicken is compelled to enter, like a bird to the slaughter. What dark and macabre secrets await?
This was actually originally in the Chicken Heroics book that really is coming out very soon now, but I ended up not using it there and I figure it's still a good picture I can re-purpose for more generic things.

The chicken masked in darkness sails down the wire throwing eggs at his most dreaded foes in the land of blue. 'Tis truly the strangest land there is.

Dark On Blue
By

Today's piece is Dark on Blue. It is a black silhouette with a red wattle and comb. I based it on this old one to an extent I suppose. It's really pompous to say I'm a fan of something that I did, but I'm a fan of that one. From there I decided to put a nice blue swoosh on the back to make it less boring.

Character Sheet
By
Chicken Maker
at
I realized today that I haven't posted anything about Chicken Heroics since the end of July, the month I shared its existence with you all. I didn't stop working on it though. It's still going through the development process quite well. I just hadn't wanted to bog down my site with it, though I actually waste quite a bit of time on it.
This is the character sheet for my game. You know, a character sheet actually reveals a lot about a game. For example the fact that the game has Gold, though I guess I just wrote the letter G. You could have assumed that stood for anything. Also the number of item slots being fixed is on purpose. You can only carry 10 things at a time. I don't like the book-keeping of weights and what have you that some RPG inventories require, and most players ignore, but I also don't like carrying everything and the kitchen sink so a fixed number of item slots seemed good to me.
Also I assume you can doodle, which might be rude, but look. It's not like the portrait has to be some sort of high class piece of fine art. Just needs to send the basic idea of what your guy looks like. I mean the two silhouettes on the sheet are already there to give you an impression of it being about chickens.
Anyways this went through several revisions already, and will probably go through at least a couple more.

Random

I have added a random button to the side bar along with the various pages. When you click it it will send you to a random page on here. I figured we should have one, since the content of this site is mostly separate and it's mostly a matter of some random humor.

We're BACK!
By

I fell into a circle of failure. I missed a few days so I decided I needed something big to come back on. So I made hings but didn't think they were good enough... But it's the end of the month and you know what? I have a pile of these things and I'm going to post all of them. We're BACK!!
That is of course the royal We, because as you know this site is just me.
So, coming from the flames a hero shows through.

Is it blue, or is it purple. Or is this some midnight black beast threatening both. Perhaps just a normal chicken who light made look a silhouette.

Finally, his journey over, he reaches his home as the sun rises. And in the rising sun he sees the hen he'd loved as a chick. It is plain to see that she returns his feelings. A beautiful reunion!
Maybe I should have saved this one for Monday...

Yeah, this one might not count as a style I use. I mean I've only drawn two so far, and one of them was just a bit ago. Still it was my intention from the start to use it from time to time. After all there's always room for a cuter cuddlier version of things from time to time, isn't there? Anyways to explain the basic style. First everything is rounded, plus I made the outline using the large circle brush, instead of the middle one. I like the nice round eyes, though those were a newer decision. Lastly I shaded it lightly with a lighter version of the color thinly on one edge. Plush. Plush... Plush isn't a sound effect is it?
This is one of the earliest things I tried after I started. By dropping the outlines I was able to more easily change the shapes of things to suit my needs. In my first few chickens I didn't have a very good feel for how things should be shaped so being able to change them as I went was a very helpful ability. In this one in particular there isn't much of a change from my usual style but if I were doing something fancier I'd have had to make sure not to put any similarly colored bits next to each other.
And lastly the Silhouette. I would never have been able to post up just this. The only time I really do up these sorts of things is when I'm focusing on effects in the background or something else complicated. In this case I decided to leave the eye uncolored because it looked really lazy just putting up a black blob. Anyways the difference in the creation phase is that I need to make the details more extended from the body. After all anything overlapping just gets buried and you don't see it at all. (try copying one of my other chickens into Paint and dump everything black if you don't understand)

Flag-Be
By

Decided to get some america going, but I ended up making the white stripes too pink. Still, I'm happy with this nice American sillhouette. Got some stars and some stripes.
And if you're not American I don't know your flag well enough to twist it into a chicken-based doodle. I mean I know it, but I can't think of anything interesting to do with it. I mean I'd want to do not Red White and Blue but most of the not series of colored line based ones are those colors(since England took over the world back when) so...
