Bird Shades

This is a slick bird with cool shades. I put a lot of effort into something else earlier today... but I didn't save and it crashed. Very sad. Failed to recreate it.

Cool Shades

A bad boy is a must have. And it's about time I remake Shades McCoolguy some time. All good franchises need a failed reboot at some point so it's probably coming. Anyways this isn't that.

Shades McCoolguy IX: Golden Ending

I welcome everyone to the final part of the third trilogy of Shades McCoolguy. I'm not entirely sure how this got delayed for so long, part 8 being posted back in January, but it's probably because I had no idea what to do with it and didn't want to rush through the finale, then I forgot I was doing it. If you don't know what this is then go to the Project section using the button on the right

Shades McCoolguy faced off against the Sailor on the deck of his ship. His uncertainty about how to protect the fowl already on board the ship had left him distracted enough to be caught face to face with the foul man intent on their slaughter. Bounding forth Shades had no real choice one way or the other. He had to handle the Sailor now or there would be no saving anyone.

It really goes without saying that in the end an exhausted Shades looked out over the rails of the Cajun Queen, leaving the Sailor to his end in the murky waters below. He was battered and bruised, but the Sailor hadn't managed to fry him despite his best efforts. Truly when he had set out he hadn't intended to end this so cruelly. He'd planned to let the law handle the Sailor's crimes, but as usual he hadn't been able to forgive the man once they'd crossed paths.

Moving toward the helm he prepared to take everyone back home. The day was saved for them and once they were off this boat of death Shades thought he might just have to sink it.

I want to start doing more videos. Maybe I'll even actually talk over them. I actually recording this being drawn. At least I meant to but I apparently used my webcam instead so I just have a nice 5 minute video of me looking vaguely at the screen. Next time I'll have a video.

Shades McCoolguy VIII: Cyan Sea

Also, if you're curious, the 9th part and end of this trilogy will be yellow.

The sailor walked the ship, unaware that Shades had boarded before he left. Left to his devices the ones that had been caught and loaded onto the ship earlier would be in trouble. Using the whole of his abilities to hide. He had to get rid of the sailor or it would be trouble for the ones locked up here.

He was starting to wonder why he had taken this job at all. It was because of what he'd done back when he worked for the colonel, of course. Shades McCoolguy was distracted by these thoughts, and that's why the sailor managed to catch him. The butcher's knife in that man's hand left a pair of cuts on Shades' chest. This would be the end of this. One way or the other. Shades' plans were tossed to the wayside now.

Shades McCoolguy VII: Magenta Journey

The last part of Shades McCoolguy was posted back in 2011. As such there were a few things that bothered me looking at it. Now, I'm not so sure that most of you were here to see the last part so I'll fill you in part of the gimmick for Shades McCoolguy is that it's versions of the same picture. As such I was a bit reluctant to make any real changes to it, but in the end I did redraw part of it, though for the most part it is the same as before. So, catch up on the series before reading. This is the beginning of the Cajun Queen Trilogy.

His investigation of the sailor man led him deep into the secrets of the Cajun Queen. Having boarded the ship he didn't have much of a choice at this point. Shades McCoolguy, a chicken who had in the past straddled the line between good and evil, had successfully fought back against many fowl villains in his day and this would be much the same.

Hearing the troubled clucks of those trapped on the ship he could only choose to ignore them. By the end of the day they would be fried, and if he was noticed here he would be stuck in the same boat as them and then he couldn't expect to help anyone. He was going to save them though. Just not yet.

It was an unfortunate coincidence that the ship started to move so soon after he boarded. The sailor didn't realize that he was on board after all. Shades didn't really have any sea legs to speak of so this could only lead to trouble. The chicken was on the move because there wasn't really any other choice.

I received this a while ago and forgot to post it here somehow. Everyone. Look at this thing Karisean drew for us. Based of course on the popular Shades McCoolguy series. I mean... This is really good. My only objection is that his shades aren't pointy enough.

Echoes of the Past

Barry the Hawk, a fearsome chicken, is always looking over his shoulder even since the fight against a hawk that earned him the name. He knows that they're out for revenge, but they always back down to his glare. Even now he looks out for echoes of his past.

Cool Shades

It's been a while since I busted out a chicken wearing some cool shades so I had to throw one down. This guy is in front of some brickwork since that implies a sort of back alley setting.

This piece is edgey and experimental and I made too many lines and didn't bother to clean up after myself. Also it's purposely rough. Enjoy

New Projects Header

I decided the Project Page needed some freshening up, and you know, a fair number of updates.  And, well, as first I was just gonna update it or maybe reformat it a bit, but I decided to give it a new page image. Also, I think I'm redesigning the site to breath some new life into it. Don't worry. I won't pull anything too crazy. It'll still be basically the same... But who knows. I might just be going wild with it.

As for the fact that I straight pasted Shades in... Shades is still a great piece and I never redraw him anywhere else. That's practically the point of Shades McCoolguy

Shades McCoolguy VI: White Victory

This is the end of Shades McCoolguy's 2nd Trilogy. Which I have been referring to in my own head as "The Black And White Trilogy."

Shades McCoolguy burst in on the Church's leaders. He was calm. He'd been insulted but he had no fear or burning rage. The cool anger in his eyes was hidden by his glasses. He couldn't really be expected to forgive them. They had caused him too much trouble. Shades forgave them once in the past. He couldn't do it again.

Shades McCoolguy struck down his foes. He couldn't let the heads of the group live. He let the subordinates live. After all they were just following orders. These guys caused the trouble for the ones living here. It was there fault and he couldn't forgive them. Still, as he walked away, unstained by their blood, it was clear that he had saved everyone around. 

He was finally ready to head back home. He couldn't keep hiding out in the country. He would return to his office and start taking cases again.

Shades McCoolguy V: Black Escape

Shades McCoolguy continues his latest battle. Shades McCoolguy will never die!

Shades McCoolguy had had enough. Even if the Church had gotten him bound now he certainly wasn't going to sit there and take it. It goes without saying that Shades broke free from his confinement. Tearing away the ropes that bound him he fought the mighty man left to guard him. Their battle raged on, but obviously the blindfolded Shades claimed victory. 

Throwing off the blindfold and took up the shades of his defeated foe. He had been a worthy adversary. None of the Church's henchmen dared to challenge him as he strode out of the room alone, burning with unchallenged majesty.

But he couldn't leave. Not yet. The Church had caused trouble for him and he could hardly be expected to let them go unpunished.

Prepare for the exciting conclusion just as soon as I create a variant powerful enough to convey his Victory.

Shades McCoolguy IV: Grey Trap

Shades McCoolguy is Back for a New Adventure!

Honestly I'm surprised his retirement lasted a whole year. I kinda expected to bring him back sooner honestly. I was a bit indecisive, but I decided to keep the cuts on his face. Also I considered making him start sucking, like Rocky in Rocky V, but I decided against it. 

After toppling The Colonel and the Seven Secret Herbs and Spices the great Shades McCoolguy went into reclusion in the mountains. It was more or less safe there, and while he wanted to help there wasn't much for him to do since no agency wanted him. Not PETA. Not the FDA. Even the English FSA hadn't been interested in his services. He'd expected it after what he pulled taking down those punks but he'd expected, or perhaps just hoped, to get back in one day.

While ranging around in the mountains he caught wind of one of his old cases. The Church was still active in the mountain town. His involvement with the Church had always been a bit strained. Especially considering what they'd done to his brother. They were nearly as bad as the Colonel and his gang. He wasn't getting paid, but he hit the streets to get the scoop on them. But as he started to get a handle on their new operation it was pretty obvious where it was taking him. Shades leapt to action, and fell right into their trap.

He was knocked out and de-shaded(also blindfolded) by some two-bit thug they'd hired. Right when he'd gone to confront them on their new operation. When he woke up captive he wondered if he'd made lost his touch. In the past he'd never have walked into such an obvious trap.

Well, I guess he does suck a little in this one, but that's just cause it's the set up. I mean he turned evil in the original. Also, in case anyone is mistaking this for anti-religious nonsense... I'm obviously referring to Church's Chicken. (Even if I am envisioning them as a bunch of guys dressed like ministers...)

One Year Later

Today is the site anniversary.  Now, if you're anything like me, this comes as a complete shock. I assumed this would burn down after a few months. It'd last until September at most. Now, I wasn't really sure what to do for it at first but it came to me in a flash. I'd get one of them fancy shmancy web-domains, but then I remembered that http://www.chickenmaker.com/ was taken so it was too much hassle and was unsure again.

So, then I put it off for a while then BAM! It hit my like a bus. It's St. Patrick's Day. So, I'm just gonna green up some of my personal favorites from the past year.

On a side note... yes Anniversaries do count as holidays. Though I guess this goes in there regardless, huh?

 Shades McCoolGuy is cutting in with a special appearance. Just think of this as a holiday special. It's a pretty good one I'd say. It's set between the 2nd and 3rd parts because that's where random specials go if you have a trilogy.

 This cyborg chicken was one of my earlier ones. I think of it as one of the better ones, though the waddle is very poorly drawn and I'd have never stood for that sort of quality if I'd made it fresh today.

 The Gritty Sharpness is the best style ever, no doubt. It even works in Green. Look how cool he is.


Also for a short while I'll be trying out one of those "You may also like" things. I'll decide to keep it or not depending on how intrusive it seems after a while.

Shades McCoolguy III: Red Salvation

The conclusion of the arbitrarily decided Shades McCoolguy trilogy. I decided it should be a Trilogy when the second one wasn't lambasted. Now, initially the final part, Red Salvation, was going to simply be a red recolor of the original, but I decided that was dull. The third and final part of Shades McCoolguy is instead a red recolor, with edits to make him look more badass. I'm pretty sure I edited everything besides the beak so it probably would have been easier to make a brand new chicken but I think that would ruin the three of them as a series. Now for the final part of Shade's tale:

After taking down the Colonel Shades was lost in the world. PETA wasn't willing to take him back after what he'd done. He had crossed the line. He was more than willing to admit that. He knew there was no coming back after what he'd done. He wasn't going to do something as foolhardy as that again but he still had nothing to do. Eventually the Herbs and Spices caught up with him while he was just exhausted in his coop. He was struck hard and his face scarred with three slashes. He had known those guys were still around. He should have gone to take them out immediately but...

He had been stuck in a loop of failure. After getting beaten up and left to die Shades got up and slipped on his shades. He walked right in on their operations and took them down. They may have ruffled his feathers a bit but he certainly wasn't going to lay down without a fight. The Seven were easily taken down after having tricked him with their bribery and tricks. It was a violent fight, but with it over Shades McCoolguy had escaped his spiral of doubt. He had stopped the Colonel and his gang once and for all. They would never trick another kid like him into doubting his own. He strode into the sunset, confident that everything would work out.

THE END.

And with that I have finished Shades McCoolguy. I think it was a pretty good story when it's all put together. I, like most people, dislike PETA but they made a good group for the purposes of this.

Shades McCoolguy: Blue Redemption

Okay, now... normally I wouldn't release some recolor-edit like this but I think it looks smooth, and more importantly it's a good excuse to continue the tale of Shades McCoolguy. Now, when we last left him he was selling out his brothers to the Colonel. And now we pick up from there.

Shades is starting to see how he might have made some bad calls. His fellow chickens were doomed to an eternal torment if he just left them in that man's clutches. They would be fried before there was anything he could do about it. That's why he had to jump to action. When the colonel started his plans to fry up the stupid kids Shades had lured in he had no choice but to save them. They didn't know. They had trusted him and he let them down... Shades acted on instinct, guts, and justice. He took down the colonel and saved those kids. They didn't know what to say, but Shades just walked away like he hadn't done anything special. He was a bit ashamed of himself for ever having fallen in with the 7 secret herbs and spices... He hadn't even done anything about them... He would have to go back in and stop them before they corrupted another hero into being as foolish as him.

Shades McCoolguy

Shades McCoolguy, former Private Eye. Hired by the PETA to hunt down that sick bastard... The Colonel. He would kick that guys eyes out. However during his investigation he fell in with the 7 secret herbs and spices. After being corrupted he started selling out his brothers...

Swiggidy

Okay, he's a sort of thing I've been wanting to try with the faded thing in the background and the not faded on smaller in the foreground. It came out really awful but when has that ever stopped me. I mean he's got some styling cool shades and when you get right down to it that's what counts.
